Shame

CHARCOAL ON CANVAS

This is what is considered a “non-painting” by the artist. Ways the painting is improper: canvas is too large for the frame, staples are showing on the front of the painting, no paint is used.

The process started with a collage consisting of cutouts from vintage pornographic magazines, as well as from scraps of cloth from the ASARFELT‘s studio space. The artist initially included a photograph of the person who owned the magazines As part of the collage.

The person who’s porn it was saw the collage and disapproved. ASARFELT then lifted the canvas up so the collage fell to the ground. This painting was declared a product of Shame.
